A York PhD student has won a graduate scholar award for best paper at the International Conference on Health, Wellness and Society. Reshma Prashad, a fourth-year PhD candidate in the Graduate Program in Health, will present her paper this Friday at the conference in Washington, D.C.
"I'm extremely excited to win this award," she says, "since it's my first ever international conference. To win this award solidifies my confidence."
Prashad notes there were close to 100 papers submitted for the conference from all over the world, and all were considered for the award.
Founded in 2011, the Health, Wellness, & Society Knowledge Community is brought together by a common concern in the fields of human health and wellness, and in particular their social interconnections and implications.
Attendees include leaders in the field, as well as emerging scholars, who travel to the conference from all corners of the globe and represent a broad range of disciplines and perspectives. A variety of presentation options and session types offer opportunities for attendees to share their work, discuss key issues in the field, and build relationships with attendees.
