The Raymond E. Fancher Award will be awarded annually to a York University graduate student for excellence in research in the History and Theory of Psychology. Senior Scholar and Professor Emeritus, Raymond E. Fancher, was a full-time professor in York’s Psychology Department from 1970 until his retirement in 2005. A highlight of his career was the role that he played in the establishment, in 1980, of a new PhD specialty area in York’s Psychology Graduate Program, devoted to the History and Theory of Psychology. Since its inception, the area has established an international reputation and has consistently produced a steady stream of accomplished and successful graduates.
