SSHRC Fellowships and CGS Doctoral Awards (DF/CGSD)

The SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships and Joseph–Armand Bombardier CGS Doctoral Scholarships aim to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of scholarly achievement in undergraduate and graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities.

Value and Duration

  • SSHRC - $20,000 per year up to 4 years
  • CGS - $35,000 per year up to 3 years



  • October 11, 2019 (internal deadline for York students)

How to Apply

Please note that starting this year, SSHRC applications are to be submitted online through the SSHRC portal, including references. Transcripts are to be scanned and uploaded by the applicant to the portal. For detail, please follow the online application instructions provided by SSHRC.

In addition, students submitting a SSHRC doctoral application through York University are required to submit the Ontario Graduate Scholarship & Tri-Council Scholarship Information Form by October 11, 2019.
