First call for Papers for ISA Canada Graduate Student Paper Prize 2015

ISA Canada is pleased to announce its call for the 2015 ISA Canada Graduate Student Paper Prize.

Value: $500
Abstract (200 words) deadline: 1 January 2015.
Paper submission deadline: 27 January 2015.

Papers and abstracts should be submitted to Marc G. Doucet, chair of the student paper prize jury (marc.doucet@smu.ca) and Jennifer Mustapha, ISA-Canada Secretary-Treasurer (jmustapha@rogers.com).

The ISA Canada Student Paper Prize is:

  • Open to all PhD students who are members of ISA and ISA-Canada;
  • Open to PhD students in any of the disciplines that fall under the aegis of International Studies;
  • To be awarded for a previously unpublished, single authored paper delivered at the ISA meeting in New Orleans 2015;
  • PhD dissertation chapters will be accepted if they are previously unpublished;
  • To be awarded to a paper written in either French or English;
  • To be awarded at the reception held by ISA-Canada at the Annual Meeting of the International Studies Association;

In addition to the criteria above:

  • Submissions are to be no longer than 8000 words (including notes, tables, figures, and reference list/ bibliography);
  • Submissions will be evaluated based on: originality, strength and clarity of argument, contribution to the appropriate literature;
  • A paper abstract of 200 words or less must be submitted no later than 1 January 2015. Only those individuals submitting an abstract by this deadline may submit a paper;

Jury members are Marc G. Doucet (chair) (Saint Mary’s University); Lucian Ashworth (Memorial University); and Heather L. Johnson (Queen’s University Belfast).
